The Galen Province and the destruction of Cielo
Throughout Seregor there was one place which remained free of crime and corruption. Cielo, home of the King, was the largest city ever built. It was constructed to honor the alliance of the three races, and designed in three concentric rings. The outer ring was home to the commoners and the marketplace where traders from all over Seregor came to sell their wares. Next was the garrison, a huge complex where the armies of Seregor could train and master the ways of war. In the center of it all stood the Grand Citadel where the Monarchy could sit in splendour as they ruled over the land. The city was a triumph, and some bragged that it could never fall. They were wrong.
Scuro unleashed The Void, and it rained fire upon the land. Cielo’s armies fought valiantly and were able to withstand the onslaught from The Void, but the shockwave of energy that followed mutated those who were not protected by the city’s walls. They became twisted and envious of mankind and they were called Crul. The Crul were many in number and they formed a dark alliance with The Void. They would help The Void crush the armies of Seregor and in return they would inherit the land once The Void had moved on to other worlds.
In the darkness of this evil night the Crul army rushed the citadel and murdered the King along with all his advisors. The Void cunningly feigned retreat, and without their wise leader Cielo’s army pursued The Void and fell into the trap. The land began to rumble beneath their feet as a volcano burst up from below. Those that survived the initial blast were quickly overcome by the dust and smoke, leaving nothing but strange ashen mounds where great legions once stood. Then the Crul razed the city to serve as a reminder that nothing lasts forever.
You can still see the ruins, and the great volcano continues spewing lava in a steady stream. Most of the Crul live in the forest behind the ruins. There are frequent sightings of Crul patrols guarding what’s left of Cielo, killing anyone who dares to explore the ruins. There are some who would try to reclaim the scarred land. In an encampment east of Galen, Captain Kelleran and his men bravely resist the hordes, but the Crul are growing in numbers and it won’t be long until the rest of Seregor bows to their hideous might.
